Dr. Jafar Riaz Kataria is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Institute of Social & Cultural Studies, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He holds a PhD in South Asian Studies (Sociology) from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, completed in 2018. Dr. Kataria completed his MPhil in South Asian Studies (Social Sciences) in 2012 and BS (Hons) in Social Sciences (Sociology) in 2008 from the University of the Punjab, and also holds an Intermediate in Computer Sciences and Matriculation from BISE Gujranwala. He has obtained a Certificate in English Language from Sheikh Zayed Center, University of the Punjab, along with a Diploma in Computer Applications covering programming and database fundamentals. Dr. Kataria has over 10 years of teaching and research experience, having taught at the Centre for South Asian Studies and the Institute of Social & Cultural Studies, University of the Punjab, and has also served as Visiting Faculty Lecturer at the Department of Political Science, University of the Punjab, and Global Institute Lahore. He has taught undergraduate, MPhil, and PhD-level courses in Sociology, South Asian Studies, Social Sciences, Political Sociology, Research Methodology, and related interdisciplinary subjects.

His professional achievements include serving as MPhil and PhD Program Coordinator, supervising numerous MPhil theses, being a member of doctoral program committees, and working as Editor and Assistant Editor of reputable academic journals published by the University of the Punjab.Dr. Kataria has an extensive research portfolio with numerous national and international publications in sociology and social sciences, covering areas such as health systems, education, political sociology, poverty, gender studies, media studies, and regional issues. He has actively participated in and presented research papers at various national and international conferences on sociology, political science, peace studies, media studies, and South Asian regional issues.
